MARINE APPLICATIONS: RIG MONITORING

About the application:
Rig monitoring is a combination of two major systems; leg force and rig inclination monitoring system. The main purpose is monitoring occurrence of safety critical situations during rig move and rig operation by means of keeping leg position and deck inclination within set limits.

Leg force: compares leg forces and shows load distribution during jack-up, jack-down and normal operation against permitted SWL of each leg. It uses different load and length sensors installed in the jacking system.

Rig inclination: all leg height/depth positions are measured in relation to the deck. Overall rig inclination is measured by X-Y inclination sensors.

The application can be used for all new rigs and nearly all existing rigs.
The system is equipped with a display (screen size and slave displays for bridge and control room are as per customer requirement) that shows the rig master the actual loading and position of every leg and deck inclination.

Data-logging (with dedicated data-analyser software) is available to analyse rig jacking movements, leg loads, inclination levels to optimise safety and operation.
Camera systems to supervise jacking systems are optional.
